August 1, 2013 Ceilidh

The fifth ceilidh of the Chestico Museum’s 2013 summer ceilidh series was held on August 1st and we had a huge crowd in attendance due to Chestico Days. Ships 1801

Ships of 1801 is an original dramatic concert performed by local and recognized musicians in period costume. Song, dance, and Gaelic verse are tied together by live narration, commemorating the culture that early Scottish settlers brought with them to Nova Scotia. Louisbourg 300 Celebrations in Port Hood

2013 marks the 300th anniversary of the founding of Île Royale (Cape Breton Island) and its capital, Louisbourg. Wally Ellison Evening Recap

On Thursday, June 20th, the Chestico Museum hosted a book signing by Wally Ellison for his new work, Waterfalls, Cape Breton’s Hidden Treasures. Wally signed numerous books and also presented a slideshow on Cape Breton waterfalls. Wally was most informative and his talk was greatly enjoyed!
