August 14, 2014 Ceilidh

Crowd

The sixth ceilidh of the Chestico Museum’s 2014 summer ceilidh series was held on August 14th and we had a really good crowd in attendance!

We were pleased to have the talented Kyle MacDonald as our fiddler for the evening. Many people remembered Kyle from his excellent performance at this year’s Chestico Days Step Dancing Festival.

Johnny MacDonald accompanied Kyle on piano and Johnny’s daughter Regyn MacDonald of the Celtic Touch Dancers treated us to some highland dancing and step dancing! Great performances all around.

Peter Mackenzie brought his guitar and performed a wonderful selection of Irish songs such as “Kilkelly, Ireland”, “There Were Roses” and “The Patriot Game” – an absolutely incredible voice!

You can view some photos of the evening on our Facebook page.

Shelly Campbell was our guest fiddler this week and she was accompanied by Amanda MacDougall on piano. Shelly & Amanda performed numerous energetic tunes and Amanda even gave us a solo performance. Shelly’s stories were also very much enjoyed!

Barbara Cameron was here with her guitar and treated us to a number of songs including a beautiful one about growing up on Port Hood Island.
