August 5, 2010 Ceilidh

The fourth ceilidh of the Chestico Museum’s summer ceilidh series took place at the museum on August 5th. Hughie John Beaton was scheduled to perform but unfortunately had to cancel. July 22, 2010 Ceilidh

The third ceilidh in the Chestico Museum 2010 summer ceilidh series took place on July 22nd. Our entertainment for the evening were Maggie Beaton who is a very talented young fiddler, Mary Graham who played our newly tuned piano, Leah Gillies who treated us to a selection of piano tunes and Stanley MacNeil who gave us some great harmonica playing! Next Event: Home Children Presentation

In honour of 2010 being declared the Year of the British Home Child, the Chestico Museum will host a presentation and slideshow on Thursday, July 29 at 7:30. Our special guest presenter will be Cecil Verge, son-in-law of John Guest. Between 1869 and 1939 approximately 100,000 children came to Canada from Great Britain.
