July 14, 2016 Ceilidh

13718627_1131178616920238_6572505780632846034_nThe second ceilidh of the Chestico Museum’s 2016 summer ceilidh series was held on July 14th. This ceilidh was a bit unusual in that the power went off just before 7 PM. However, the show did go on!

Cullen MacInnis was our fiddler and he had everyone tapping their toes! What a great young talent!

Pius MacIsaac was also with us. He accompanied Cullen on guitar, did a few solo pieces and he treated us to a song.

And last but certainly not least, we had the talented Lynn Chisholm who treated us to some old favourites. Lynn’s renditions of Working Man and Girls of Neil’s Harbour had everyone singing a long.

13654403_1131178900253543_7598887226284098265_nAt the end of the ceilidh we had a presentation from Rev. Harvey Tobey on his new historical novel, My Father’s Watch. Rev. Tobey spoke very eloquently about life on Port Hood Island and how it, his family and friends inspired the book. People then had a chance to speak with Harvey and purchase the novel.

It was a most enjoyable evening despite the power outage!

You can view photos of the ceilidh on our Facebook page.

You can also view video of Cullen and Pius. Video of Lynn can be found here and here.
