The final ceilidh of the Chestico Museum’s 2015 summer ceilidh series was held on Thursday, August 27.
Alain Pelletier, owner and operator of The Fiddle & The Sea was our fiddler for the evening and played a selection of tunes for us. Alain was accompanied on the guitar by Bill MacDonald from Judique.
Bill also accompanied Marie Aucoin who treated us to a number of songs and Bill even performed a couple of songs himself!
We were also happy to have Peter MacKenzie sing for us – always nice to have Peter at a museum ceilidh.
And last but not least, Leah O’Donell showcased her highland dancing.
Anne Beaton, President of the Chestico Historical Society, introduced Monica Graham who was with us from Pictou County. Monica has published a number of books and she spoke of them and her newest work, In the Spirit. People had the opportunity to speak with Monica and purchase her books.
And so we ended another year of Chestico Museum ceilidhs. This year, our ceilidhs were organized by summer students Shannon MacLennan and Kati vanZutphen. Thank you Shannon and Kati for all your hard work!
Thank you as well to everyone who so generously gave of their time to perform at our ceilidhs, to all who baked for our ceilidh teas and to everyone who came out to support us on Thursday evenings this summer. We hope to see you all again next year!
As always, photos of our can be found on our Facebook page.
