July 19, 2012 Ceilidh

The second ceilidh of the Chestico Museum’s 2012 summer ceilidh series was held on July 19th and it was a real treat!

Shelly Campbell was our fiddler and gave us a number of tunes. She also put down the fiddle to step dance AND play the piano! She certainly is multitalented!

Pius MacIsaac brought along his guitar and mandolin and played both beautifully.

Bill MacDonald was also present with his guitar and he played along with Pius and Shelly and he also accompanied Marie Aucoin who did an absolutely incredible job of singing.  Her rendition of Danny Boy was amazing!

We had a great crowd in attendance and they were in fine voice, joining in with Bill on The Tennessee Waltz and Farewell to Nova Scotia.

Great music, a good tea and catching up with old friends – a wonderful evening all around!

Photos are posted on our Facebook page. You can check them out here.

Hope to see you there!

Her Wake – July 12, 2012

The Chestico Museum was pleased to present the award winning play “Her Wake” on July 12th.

Cindy O’Neill and Diane Mouland portrayed Cassie and Martha – two women who attend the wake of one of their friends.  They add a “special sugar” to their tea as they comment on the poor dear departed and all who happen to be there for the sad event. As the evening progressed, their tongues became looser and the truth more colourful!

Diane and Cindy, who have formed Moo’Nlighting Productions, were an absolute hoot in their respective roles and they stayed in character to serve tea after the show.

Photos from the evening can be viewed in our Facebook album.

If you missed the play at the museum, you can still catch it around the County this summer. Currently, the following shows are available:

July 5th, 2012 Ceilidh

The Chestico Museum’s 2012 summer ceilidh series kicked off on July 5th! Our performers were a wonderful group of people who have been extraordinarily generous with their talents over the last number of ceilidh seasons.

Dara Smith MacDonald was our fiddler and she was accompanied by Adam Young on piano – a great combination! The always popular Lynn Chisholm treated us to a number of old favourites. Dara and Adam accompanied Lynn on a number of songs and the resulting sound was incredible!

We had a nice sized crowd in attendance and everyone enjoyed the show immensely. It was a great start to another summer of ceilidhs at the Chestico Museum!

There are a few photos on our Facebook page. You can check them out here.
