Miners Memorial Weekend Recap

The Miners Memorial weekend that was held in Port Hood from July 21 to July 24, 2011 was a great success! The weekend kicked off on Thursday evening with a slideshow and ceilidh at the museum. Next Event: Mining Slideshow & Ceilidh

The Chestico Museum will kick off our Miners Memorial Weekend with a slideshow documenting Port Hood coal mine disasters and a ceilidh. Next Event: Home Children Presentation

In honour of 2010 being declared the Year of the British Home Child, the Chestico Museum will host a presentation and slideshow on Thursday, July 29 at 7:30. Our special guest presenter will be Cecil Verge, son-in-law of John Guest. Between 1869 and 1939 approximately 100,000 children came to Canada from Great Britain. Slideshow Series

Next Event – WWII Slideshow

On Thursday, September 3rd at 7:30 PM, the Chestico Museum will present a narrated slideshow featuring WWII veterans from Port Hood. Admission is $5 for adults – children are admitted free.  Tea and refreshments will be served following the slideshow. We look forward to seeing you at the museum as we honour our veterans!
