Since August 4, 1984, hundreds of dancers and young fiddlers have participated in the Chestico Days Step Dancing Festival and many of these continue to entertain audiences throughout the world.

The 30th Annual Step Dancing Festival will be held in beautiful Port Hood on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 1 PM. Music for the dancers will be provided by all-time favourites Kinnon and Betty Beaton. Bob MacEachern, owner/manager of 101.5 The Hawk, will be Master of Ceremonies.

Since 1984, the ChesticoMuseum has been involved with the Step Dancing Festival. Once again, we are searching for dancers to perform in this year’s festival. If you have danced in the past, we would love to have you back and if you have never graced our stage, we will be more than happy to welcome you to it!

Step dancers, square dancers, cloggers, highland dancers – all are welcome.  If you will be in Port Hood on August 3rd, please consider sharing your talent with us.

Our festival provides a unique opportunity for a variety of dancing styles to be showcased. We thank you if you have performed in the past and realize that without the generosity of so many talented dancers, the festival would not have survived for thirty years. We hope that you will be able to take part in our special thirtieth edition of the Chestico Days Step Dancing Festival.

If you would like to participate in this year’s festival, please contact Emily MacNeil at the ChesticoMuseum by July 20, 2013. Emily may be reached by email or by phone at 787-2244.

We look forward to seeing you in Port Hood for Chestico Days. Remember, you are never too old or too young to dance!
